Charlie and Susan Dahl Charlie and Susan are our ballroom dance teachers.. They teach swing, jitterbug, fox-trot and waltz. Susan had a show dance group in Germany and Switzerland prior to moving to the U.S. when she began dancing with Charlie. Dina Duckworth Dina is a graduate of North Carolina School of the Arts in dance. She began classical ballet at age six. She has studied dance with the School of American Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Jillana, and at the Nathalie LeVine Academy of Ballet in St. Louis. She has danced with the Aspen Ballet Company, the St. Louis Ballet Company, and the Metropolitan Ballet of St. Louis. Dina’s other talents include, choreography, costumer, production and stage management for HBO, USCAF, Aspen Dance Festival, Wheeler Opera House, Aspen Community Theatre, and Danse Arts Theatre as well as many others. Courtney Heinz Courtney grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and started dancing at the age of 3 at Bataille Academy of the Danse. At age 13 she was asked to dance with Chicago Stories; a pre- professional company that depicted stories of the city of Chicago. At 16 she began dancing with Midwest Dance Collectives directed by Ellen Werksman; performing in Dance Chicago every year and all throughout the midwest. Courtney also began studying with Rosemary Doolas, Lou Conte, Joel Hall, and Ruth Page. She received dance scholarships and studied with Arizona State University and Brigham Young University. She received her bachelors from the University of Illinois. Courtney recently moved to Glenwood Springs and is excited to begin teaching at Glenwood Dance Academy. Courtney will be teaching jazz and modern classes at the Academy.
Anne-Marie Kelley
Anne-Marie Kelley began her classical ballet training at Nathalie LeVine Academy of Ballet in St. Louis. She danced with the Metropolitan Ballet of St. Louis traveling and performing throughout the Midwest, and she participated in Ballet West’s summer dance program. Kelley received a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern. After a career in broadcast journalism as a television reporter and anchor, Kelley moved to Glenwood Springs where she was an award-winning journalist for The Glenwood Post. She returned to ballet to dance with DeAnna Anderson. In addition to being a freelance writer and mother of three, she teaches and choreographs for the Glenwood Dance Academy. We welcome Talara Kristin Ruth who is joining our staff and will be teaching some ballet classes and possibly some jazz. Talara has over 40 years of experience as a dancer, master teacher, dance school owner as well as an artistic director. She has taught literally from sea to shining sea. From Maine to New York City to San Diego as well as right here in Colorado. We are so pleased that Talara has decided to join us. She moved to Colorado from New York to be near her son, Seth DelGrasso and his wife Brooke, who are founding members of the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet Company. Gary Snider Gary will be teaching the Boys Stomp class on Fridays and will teach adult ballet as well as some advanced ballet classes. Gary moved here recently from Las Vegas. Gary's career in the dance world spanned some 25 years. A former American Ballet Theatre and Harkness Ballet soloist, Gary became internationally known as an adagio dancer with an expertise in "difficult and unusual lifts" taken from ice skaters and adapted to ballet. In addition to performing throughout Europe for several years, he has appeared on HBO and Showtime specials, the Red Button's "bawdy" comedy "Burlesque, USA" and then became a principal dancer and adagio lead for Donn Arden's MGM (Bally Grand) extravaganza "Jubilee" in Las Vegas. Gary is also a certified/licensed Shiatsu Massage Therapist. Danielle Yost Danielle began her training in Glenwood Springs with Karen Samuelson and Claire Evans at the age of twelve. After high school she was accepted into the dance program at the University of Arizona. She received a Bachelor of Science in molecular and cellular biology with a double minor in dance and French. After taking a few years off, she returned to dancing at Ballet Arts/Tucson Ballet in Tucson Arizona. Danielle is on the faculty of the Glenwood Dance Academy and is a soloist with the Danse Arts Theatre Company. Nicole Zinn is our student teacher who fills in for our ballet teachers when needed. |
